LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant dominate in the first fan returns of NBA All Stars
All Star leaders Kevin Durant LeBron James Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving
The NBA All-Star Game starters are no longer entirely decided by fan vote, but it still represents the largest portion of the process for choosing the five players from each conference who will start the game. Results of the first round of fan voting for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, which will be held on February 18 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, are in. Fans account for 50% of the vote to decide All-Star starters. NBA players and a media panel account for 25% each.
1st Fan Returns
The top vote-getter in the East is Kevin Durant. At the age of 34, Durant is having one of his best years and is in a strong position to earn MVP. After a 0-5 start that saw the Nets fire head coach Steve Nash and punish Kyrie Irving for spreading antisemitic misinformation online, the team’s season was on the verge of imploding. However, Durant managed to save them by averaging 30 points per game on astonishing 68 percent true shooting. Even though the NBA is filled with youthful superstars right now, it’s feasible to call Durant one of the finest players in the world.
LeBron James is rapidly approaching the top spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. He is in the lead in the fan voting for the league’s All-Star Game, according to the first results released on Thursday night. After fifteen days of voting, James has 3,168,694 votes. James has served as captain in five All-Star Games. In the years 2020 and 2021, his team defeated Durant’s Eastern team. Sometime in February, probably before the All-Star Game, he will likely surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387 points) as the league’s all-time greatest scorer.
Kyrie Irving leads the votes for guards in the Eastern Conference. It sure seems like he continues to be a fan favorite even after his lengthy ban for spreading false information on Twitter. For this Irving missed a lot of games. Irving, who averages 26.2 points per game and ranks second on the club to Durant in scoring, will undoubtedly soon add another NBA All-Star Game to his impressive resume.

Six Warriors among the top 20 in Western Conference All Star list
With 2.715 million votes, Steph Curry has the most support in the conference’s backcourt for the 2023 All-Star game. Coming in fifth is Warriors‘ Klay Thompson with 515,104 votes, and Jordan Poole is in tenth place with 138,902 votes.
Andrew Wiggins, who played in his first All-Star game as a starter last year, with 1.23 million votes is in fifth place. Draymond Green joins the list in eighth place with 405,245 votes, and Kevon Looney is in tenth place with 245,985 votes.
Curry appears to be in good enough health—despite a shoulder injury—to be chosen as an All-Star starter for the ninth time in his 14-year career. Green is aiming to play in his sixth All-Star game of his career; he was chosen as a reserve last season but was unable to play because of injuries.
Thompson might play in his sixth All-Star game, his first since tearing his ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals in the 2018–19 season. Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney will hope to make this their first All Star appearance in their respective careers.
