CANCELED: Skip Bayless changes his mind about LeBron James after controversial Damar Hamlin tweet

LeBron James Skip Bayless and Damar Hamlin

Skip Bayless is one of LeBron James’ harshest known critics. Bayless is often seen dismissing LeBron’s achievements and launching scathing attacks on the Los Angeles Lakers star through his show and through Twitter. Considering all that LeBron has achieved and continues to achieve at the age of 38, it feels weird for someone to have such staunch criticism for the star. LeBron James is definitely considered by many, to be one of the finest players to have ever picked up the ball.

However, Bayless appeared to change his mind on Tuesday. After Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a devastating injury on Monday, Bayless tweeted an offensive comment about the game. Bayless’ remark was unnecessary on a day when everyone was uniting on Twitter to pray for the health of the 24-year-old.

He received a lot of backlash for the remark, which was justified. His co-host Shannon Sharpe skipped the show following his offensive tweet. Further in the presentation after the game between the Lakers and the Hornets, Skip commenting on James’ performance said, “Here to tell you, a skeptic has been turned into a fan. Keep it up, because you can keep it up.”

Given all of this, it does not appear likely that many will ever forgive Bayless, regardless of what he claims about his earlier tweets or about James. He turned 38 last month, but his performance suggests that he is still very much at the peak of his career. James has altered people’s perceptions of what is possible on the basketball floor during his career.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James scored 43 points as the Lakers defeated the Hornets 121-115 on Monday, advancing closer to the NBA’s all-time scoring record. James will surpass Kareem Abdul-record Jabbar’s 38,387 career points this season, with just 485 more points to go.

He has been dominant in his last eight appearances. During that time, he has been averaging 35.1 points, 7.4 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game. He’s demonstrating once more that he won’t let Father Time win without putting up a valiant fight.

Unfortunately, James and the Lakers continue to have difficulty winning games consistently despite his outstanding performances. They have a record of 16-21 overall and 3-5 in their previous eight games. On Saturday, February 4, at New Orleans, he is predicted to break the all-time scoring record if he keeps up his current rate and does not miss any games.
