Mychal Thompson honors Kyrie Irving with the “best one-on-one player” tag over Kobe Bryant
According to Mychal Thompson, Kyrie Irving is the best one-on-one player in NBA history.
There is very little possibility that someone won’t mention Kyrie Irving while discussing the best one on one matchup in history. Mychal Thompson, a former NBA legend, calls Kyrie Irving “the best one-on-one player” he has ever seen.
Kyrie Irving obviously ranks among the top 1-on-1 players in the NBA right now. But according to Mychal Thompson, the father of Klay Thompson, Kyrie is the finest 1-on-1 player in NBA history. Even surpassing legendary players like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.
“This sounds cr*zy to say because you think about all the great ones before him and in the league now, but he is the best 1-on-1 player I have ever seen. Michael Jordan, Kobe, and Steph Curry they all are great, but this guy, no one handles the ball like him in history. And then he has the moves to go along with it,” said Mychal Thompson.
He further added, “And then he can shoot from the outside. And then he can finish at the rim better than any guard that finishes below the rim in history. How he scores over these big guys I can’t figure it out.”
Kyrie Irving praises LeBron James: ‘Still dominating’ at 38 years old
In his 20th season in the NBA, LeBron James has had an outstanding season statistically, averaging 30.2 points per game. After the victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving commented about James and praised his former teammate for continuing to perform well at the age of 38.
“I definitely saw this when we were playing together,” Irving said when asked about James. “His ability to prepare himself mentally, spiritually, emotionally, game-to-game, day-to-day… I’ve been quoted as saying it’s hard to be LeBron James or any superstar in any entertainment sport, athletic, or business industry because all eyes are on you.”
Irving continued, “But he’s handled it extremely well. We gave the keys to the whole entire business to an 18-year-old kid and now he’s 38 years old and he’s still dominating. I don’t think we should be surprised. I think we should congratulate him and celebrate him as much as possible.”
“Continue to enjoy the shows that he put on because it’s not going to be for too much longer,” Irving further said. “Whenever he decides to play [until] but I’m enjoying the show. And I wish we could have got the chance to play against one another [on Monday night] but who knows what can happen down the line.”
