Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant made an early exit from the 2022 postseason, while Los Angeles Lakers and Russell Westbrook couldn’t make the playoffs altogether. Now that both teams are looking for a change of strategy and/or even a roaster it would be interesting to see what lies ahead for the 3 superstars of the league. As per recent reports, there is a possibility of a reunion of Russell Westbrook with Kevin Durant at the Brooklyn Nets, while Kyrie Irving with LeBron James will do the same at Los Angeles Lakers. Things are moving fast with the Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook trade, as both guards may look to reunite with their successful pairing partners. NBA’s official site reported that the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets are discussing the possibility of a Kyrie Irving-Russell Westbrook exchange trade.

While there are still hurdles in making this happen, the teams are actively engaged in trade discussions. Both pairs of players have had a bit of on-and-off friendships over the years. Kyrie made the switch from the Cavs leaving LeBron carrying the team. Similarly, Westbrook and Kevin Durant had a rough patch after the latter left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. Things were patched up later. However, NBA fans on Twitter showed their creativity by predicting Westbrook’s response to Durant if the Lakers trade for Kyrie.

Will Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant reunite at the Nets, with Kyrie Irving and LeBron James doing the same at the Los Angeles Lakers?

Things at Brooklyn Nets are the root cause of many possibilities. Kevin Durant requesting a trade, and Kyrie Irving also looking for a change of scenery making a huge change in the league landscape The proposed reunion is possible if Kevin Durant stays with the Nets himself. And Irving’s departure could prove to be the final straw in Durant’s decision to leave the organization. So it’d be a nervous off-season for the Nets fans. But Irving’s move looks certain as per internal reports.

So if Durant chooses to stay with the Nets or couldn’t find the desired destination this preseason, his reunion with Westbrook would give them a chance at redemption. They will get another shot at the title after not being able to win it during the Thunder days – after the 2012 Finals appearance.

The Lakers fans, on the other hand, can be excited by the reports of Irving reuniting with LeBron James. It worked wonders the last time they were together, making the Cleveland Cavaliers team to beat in the East. They played together for 3 seasons, making the NBA finals every year, and won the title in 2016

The Kyrie-LeBron duo’s title win was a very special one, as they overcame a 1-3 deficit against the historic 73-9 Warriors team. James averaged 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game in the Finals. His outstanding overall contribution won him the Finals MVP award. Kyrie Irving was the second-best player in the Cavs averaging 27.1 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Brooklyn Nets will also be looking for similar productions from the reunited Westbrook-Durant pair – as they did at OKC. The difference would be that this time they will have a better support cast than they had at OKC. Also, both players have matured enough and Durant had 2 NBA Titles to say the least.
