Scottie Pippen said: “I don’t believe there’s a great player, cause our game was a team game and one player can’t do it … I’ve seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play with bulls … He’s a horrible player and he was horrible to play with.” These comments sparked debates that there is something bitter brewing between Mike and Pippen.

NBA insider and analyst and former colleague of Scottie, Brian Windhorst weighs in on the situation defending Scottie saying: “Now the thing about this is that … I had the opportunity to work with Scottie Pippen at ESPN, he is a colleague and we had times when we would sit together and would talk to me about Jordan … I just don’t believe that’s the way he really feels because that’s not the Scottie Pippen I sat with.” he went on to say that it was out of Scottie’s character to made those comments about Jordan. Jordan still haven’t made any comments about Scottie and his relationship and this little turmoil between them is still a one-sided battle so far.

A look at Michael Jordan BEFORE Scottie Pippen

Following up on Scottie’s “horrible player” comments it is worth noting that Jordan in fact was not a horrible player in the farthest reaches of the claim.

Jordan was drafted 1st overall by the Bulls in 1984 and played 7 full seasons(1984-1991) with the Bulls before Scottie’s arrival in Windy City. Jordan during those 7 seasons won the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, scoring titles, and leading the Bulls to the playoffs, he even still holds the record for most points in a Playoff game scoring 63 points against Larry Bird and the Celtics in a loss. He averaged 32.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg and 5.9 apg on 51.5% shooting from the field during those 7 seasons.

Although Jordan didn’t find success in the rings department before Scottie Pippen joined the team, the 6 Championship rings and the two 3-peat would be impossible to even happen without the greatness of Michael Jordan.
