The Denver Nuggets are one win away from making history — and they know it. They have never won an NBA championship in their existence and have never even played in the NBA Finals before this season. They have never been this close to reaching the pinnacle of their sport.

And they are not letting this chance slip away. The Nuggets put on a clinic on Friday night, crushing the Miami Heat 108-95 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. They will have a chance to finish off the Heat and hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy on Monday at home, where they have just lost one game in the playoffs.

Aaron Gordon put on a show for the Nuggets as he scored 27 points on an efficient 11-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He attacked the rim with aggression and knocked down open shots with confidence. He also played stellar defense on Jimmy Butler, who finished with 25 points but needed 17 shots to get there.

The Nuggets’ bench was also instrumental in the win, especially Bruce Brown, who had 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic were the dynamic duo they always are. Though both had off-shooting nights, they combined for 38 points and 15 assists, with one of them making some history along the way. Murray became only the second player ever to dish out at least ten assists in four consecutive Finals games, joining the legendary Magic Johnson.

It was another lopsided affair that left the fans in disbelief. How could this be the NBA Finals, the pinnacle of basketball, when one team was dominating so easily? The frustration and boredom were palpable on Twitter, where many vented their disappointment and called it the worst Finals ever.

Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:

The Heat are backed into a corner. They have to pull off a miracle and win three games in a row against a Nuggets team that has been unstoppable in this series. They have to figure out how to contain Gordon, Murray, and Jokic, who have been putting on a show every night.

The Nuggets, on the other hand, are one win away from history. It will be intriguing to witness if the Nuggets players can drape their city in gold by winning the title or if the Heat can stage a comeback.
