Most basketball players, especially those aiming to play in the NBA, consider the sport their passion and center their lives around it. The same can’t be said for 2-time MVP and reigning Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic. Jokic considers basketball his job. Even after winning the NBA Finals, when many players achieved their lifelong goals, for Jokic, it was finally time to go home.
This was evident during the offseason videos that circulated from his stay in his home country, Serbia. While most players continuously try to improve their game and practice rigorously, Jokic was celebrating with the Serbian national basketball team. He showed more excitement after winning a horse race than he did after winning the NBA Championship.
Jokic returned to the United States for Media Day, where he showed up in shorts and a t-shirt. When asked if he had practised during the offseason, he said he barely did and had no clue who Colorado Football coach Deion Sanders was. During the entire media day, he was seen fooling around and acting childishly. He told hilarious stories about his offseason, including one where he said that his teammate Jamal Murray only called him when he was drunk.

Jokic has stated that his goal for the next season is to win again. He will strive to win his third MVP and secure a second consecutive NBA Championship, solidifying himself and the Denver Nuggets as one of the best players and teams of the decade and of all time.
Jokic will continue to record triple-doubles against the best defenders and lead his team to success.
