“Herro being hurt, a blessing in disguise for Heat” – Paul Pierce thinks Tyler Herro’s comeback will BREAK THE RHYTHM for Caleb Martin and Miami Heat
Paul Pierce believes undrafted Caleb Martin is better than Tyler Herro.
Tyler Herro, Paul Pierce and Caleb Martin
Paul Pierce is back in the NBA headlines and this time the reason is an interesting take of his. Instead, of pulling and criticizing any other great from the league. This time we have the Celtics’ legend comparing and siding with one of the two young talents the Miami Heat has. Paul Pierce believes Caleb Martin is better than Tyler Herro.
The Miami Heat recently knocked out the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and advanced to the 2023 NBA Finals against the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets. The undrafted players have switched to ball out like All-NBA talents during the Miami Heat’s post-season run and now they are back in the NBA Finals. Caleb Martin is one such talent and he plays a very important role in the Miami Heat’s success and even has Paul Pierce riding with him.
On the other hand, Tyler Herro has been out of action since Game 1 of the first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a fractured hand. But now he’s very close to returning and the reports suggest that he’ll be healthy and ready to roll in around Game 3 of the NBA Finals. With Tyler Herro being back the Maimi Heat will have another weapon to use against the Denver Nuggets. But Paul Pierce has a completely different opinion about the Bucket returning.
As sitting alongside Kevin Garnett on Showtime Basketball’s podcast, “KG Certified,” Paul Pierce disagreed with the idea of Tyler Herro being in the system over Caleb Martin. As he quoted: “If I’m Miami, how do you even play him? They got a rhythm going. Herro being hurt might’ve been a blessing in disguise for them because we see what Caleb Martin turned into because Caleb Martin is better than Herro.”
Kevin Garnett though disagrees with Paul Pierce and believes the young guard would help the Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat against the Denver Nuggets. As he can surprise his opponents and push his team to new greats. Paul Pierce though is worried about the system and how will this push down Caleb Martin and his confidence.
Relatable: Tyler Herro injury update: NBA insider gives CRUCIAL NEWS on Heat star’s NBA Finals availability
Is Paul Pierce right by claiming Caleb Martin to be better than Tyler Herro?
Tyler Herro is a bucket and he has proved his worth several times to the league. But even Caleb Martin is talented and probably the biggest reason behind Miami Heat making it to the NBA Finals. He’s been averaging 13.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks.
While Tyler Herro has been on the sidelines but that takes nothing away from Herro. And, Paul Pierce is wrong with his take as Caleb Martin is the better player at the moment when Herro isn’t available and not just better than him.
Also, such takes and comparisons don’t matter when both players play for the same team. And, at the end of the day, it’s about winning. But Paul Pierce can be right about the rhythm. As Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin with the leaders and core of the team have been balling out for a month now. So adding Tyler Herro to it in the NBA Finals may not go right for the Miami Heat.
