“Unlike you LeBron was in his front yard shooting” Reggie Miller believes LeBron James has to be super upset with Anthony Davis after recent comments
LeBron James and Anthony Davis
Former NBA superstar Reggie Miller thrashed Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis for his poor attitude after he claimed to not touch the basketball since April 5th. The former 3-Point legend added that these comments would have surely disappointed LeBron James going into the next season.
Los Angeles Lakers had to pack their bags early in the 2022 season and everyone including LeBron James was upset over it. James promised to come back strong next season. But recent comments from his star partner Anthony Davis might have upset LeBron James who was working on hoops in the offseason. Anthony Davis publicly declared that he hasn’t touched the ball since the last game Lakers played – 5th April 2022. That is more than 2 months of rest, for a player who already had spent limited time on the court in the season. Reacting to the “bad attitude” Reggie Miller considers that LeBron James would be upset about the fact.
On the Dan Patrick Show, Reggie gave his honest opinion on Davis’ behavior after a dreadful season. He said that it will upset megastar LeBron James who is doing his best to keep in shape and practice to bring glory back to the Laker-nation.
“LeBron James will be hugely disappointed with Anthony Davis”: Reggie Miller
LeBron James and Anthony Davis joined hands back in 2020 and won the NBA championship in their very 1st season together. Talented forward Anthony Davis proved to be the missing piece in the Championship aspirant team, while LeBron James continued to drive the team. But injuries to both the stars limited their game time in the 2021 and also in the 2022 seasons. Eventually, team performance took a huge dip and failed to make it to the postseason in the latest edition of the NBA games.
After such huge disappointment, it was expected that players would hit the training sessions, practice courts, and Gym to work on their attributes. James, after spending a short vacation got back to the work and at the age of 37, 19th season in the league, that’s dedication.
But Anthony Davis’ claims about ‘not touching the ball since 5th April’ might pour cold water on many people’s dreams. For leagues decorated franchises, this type of attitude from their star player is not accepted. 5-time All-Star Reggie Miller also condemns such behavior.
On the Dan Patrick Show, Miller said, “This is why the Lakers were in the predicament. They were I’m surprised has LeBron come back on top and said, ‘dude what the hell’ LeBron should be like disappointed in this. LeBron’s in the front yard of his house shooting with his kids right now.”
3-point star Reggie also expressed his frustration over the attitude as he said, “You have an opportunity because he’s already an all-time great he was on the 75th team right. He’s already won a championship. Yeah you have an opportunity to be one of the greatest players and playing for one of the greatest franchise and right now you’re in the waning years of the best player of your generation in LeBron James.”
He further added, “To me, if I was in that situation, I would be doing everything I can to extend LeBron’s years and to win championships with a historic franchise like the Lakers. It baffles me when I saw that comment.”
29-years old Anthony Davis is yet to return to his dominant self since the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2019-20 championship. He averaged 27.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks during the 2020 NBA Playoffs, anchoring the Lakers’ defense during that season. But over the following two campaigns, he put up 22.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per night — and missed about half of L.A.’s games due to ankle, Achilles, knee, and foot injuries.
New coach Darvin Ham sees Anthony Davis as the key player to the Los Angeles Lakers revival, but such kind of attitude would hamper Darvin’s plans also. Luckily for the team, youngsters have hit the gym and go their preps on track for the upcoming season.
