“He’d be a wall unto himself” Skip Bayless believes LeBron James could’ve been a Hall of Fame NFL player
Lebron James, Skip Bayless
LeBron James is famous for his athletism and every season he proved that age is just a number. He did manage to put up huge numbers in the recent season also, while many players of his age are retiring from the fast-paced game. Watching LBJ play basketball is one of the few eye-catching sporting events in the world. His athletic abilities have earned him worldwide recognition, and in his 19 years career, he was never criticized for his physique. As great as James is on Hardwood, sports analyst and top-tier LeBron Critic Skip Bayless beliefs that the king could have excelled in the world of football too.
This might be ‘breaking news’ for Skip and LeBron followers as they are accustomed to hearing bitter words for LeBron from the 70-year-old analyst. But even he had to agree with LeBron’s conditioning and gave him a green signal for a HOF career in football.
When asked a football-related question about the 4-time NBA Champion, Bayless said, “Even my man LeShannon Sharp believes LeBron will struggle with the extreme physicality that is the National Football League. But I still believe … LeBron at least as good , could have been a pass-catching, not a blocker, but a pass-catching tight end in the form of Jimmy Graham.”
Although he twisted his praises for LBJ, there were some good words for LeBron in his comments. He further added, “LeBron James, if he had chosen so, could have been a Hall of Fame left tackle. … He would have been a wall to himself.”
LeBron is not new to football as he played the sport for 2 seasons in collegiate years. . During those two seasons, James was named an All-Ohio wide receiver twice. When asked about his second choice game, James agreed that he could have been an NFL player if he had chosen football instead of basketball. But interestingly he didn’t allow his elder son Bronny to go for basketball instead of football as a career.
LeBron James is a fighter on the court and there is little doubt that he would have done the same if he had gone for football. So, Skip Bayless makes a great point about James being a Hall of Fame talent on the football field. But he said so in public is worth notable.
LeBron James is looking for a Wall to himself in NBA itself.
LeBron James has been in the league for 19 seasons and went on to play in 10 NBA Finals so far. He won 4 NBA titles till then. He won 4 Finals MVP Award in all those championship run. He made to 18-All Star appearances in those 19 seasons. Also individually he is leading in many stat-lines like points scored, assists, steals, blocks and rebounds. These achievements made him “King” of the court.
But still many don’t consider him GOAT. Skip Bayless himself puts LeBron on 2nd position behind Michael Jordan. MJ has certainly a better record in a shorter period, but LeBrons’ achievements can’t be ignored. After winning the 2020 Championship with the Lakers, the franchise run last season was hard to watch.
LeBron James and the Lakers are trying to improve on last season’s performances. With the front office trying to get a younger supporting cast to help James and company, it still doesn’t look like enough to get them to where they want. We will have to wait for his upcoming season’s results to see how LBJ cements his legacy before hanging his shoes.
