The Golden State Warriors community is diving into emotions of nostalgia as they bid farewell to Bob Myers. Myers has been one of the best General Managers in the NBA and has worked remarkably for the Warriors. The GM stepped down from his designation ahead of the expiration of his contract. His contract expires in late June and Myers reportedly declined a new deal.
With Myers’ announcement, players and fans all tuned in to congratulate him on an excellent tenure. Moreover, Stephen Curry and former Warrior Kevin Durant also took to their social media. While Durant posted a picture of him and Myers together with the NBA Finals and Finals MVP trophy, Curry wrote a more heartfelt message.
“Before the trophies and the memories over this run, I remember telling you ‘you better get this right!’ and you did. The GM role was great and you did your thing. But forever grateful for you as a friend forever. Changed each other’s lives! Enjoy the next chapter my guy.” Stephen Curry wrote on his Instagram story.
Bob Myers became the General Manager of the Golden State Warriors in 2012. He constructed the roster that won the 2015 championship for the franchise’s first title in 40 years. What happened thereafter is no news to any NBA follower. Myers was the mastermind behind the successful Warriors dynasty. With him now stepping down from his post, the Warriors would have to look hard for someone of his caliber to carry the Warriors’ legacy forward.

Why is Bob Myers stepping down?
After Bob Myers’ initial reports, many around the NBA were wondering why he wanted to step down. The GM then dressed these questions in a press conference. “This job, the one I’m in, and I would say this, a very professional General Manager and coach requires complete engagement, complete effort. A thousand percent. If you can’t do it, then you shouldn’t do it. So that’s the answer to the question why,” he said.
There’s no doubt that Myers will be missed a lot by the Golden State Warriors organization. He was the backbone behind the construction of the dynasty roster and now that he has parted ways, it will be interesting to see who fills in his gigantic shoes. Regardless, the Warriors community wishes Myers and his family their best as they are currently in their offseason.
