WATCH: Stephen Curry clown Zeke Nnaji snatching the life out of his ankles to record 50th career 4-point play
Stephen Curry once again works his expert skills by putting Zeke Nnaji on skates.
Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is showing the world that he still got it after a nasty ankle breaker against the Nuggets. However, the Golden State Warriors did go on to lose the game by 17 points. This was Curry’s 50th 4-point play in NBA history, keeping him at 3rd all-time just 4 behind Jamal Crawford in 2nd place.
In the clip, Curry comes off a screen and switches on to Zeke Nnaji. He then crosses him over, breaking his ankles, and waits for him to contest the foul. Some fans said it was an offensive foul because Curry stuck his leg out. Although it is pretty clear that Nnaji ran right into his landing zone regardless of his leg being out.
Steph Curry used a double step-back in this play which was made famous by his frequent playoff opponent James Harden. Harden made a living off this move in the 2018/19 season as he averaged 36 points per game. The Rockets lived by the three and so did harden with his step-backs. Curry was once called for a foul for using this move too and held up the number 13 as a shot at Harden who wears 13.
Stephen Curry is on fire, but the flame is not bright enough
Curry making Nnaji look like a deer on ice is not the first time he has ruined a defender. He has done it on many occasions over his career. Although at this point stuff like this will not matter to him. Steph has had his fair share of struggles this season too. The Warriors have only won 7 of their last 15 games and currently sit at the 9th seed. They have a .500 record and right now that is just about good enough for the play-ins.
Steph is an entertainer for sure, but if the warriors do not make the playoffs this year nobody will remember the entertainment. Coming off a championship season the Warriors have stooped far below expectations this year. However, Steph still seems to be the only one they can turn to save them. Lately, that has not been going to plan.
The Warriors have been to overtime greatly in the last 15 games and have only won once. That win came off a 54-point explosion from Klay Thompson against a mediocre Hawks team. Overall the Warriors have been quite bad in overtime, losing 9 straight road OT games. Steph has played in 5 OT games in the last 2 years and is shooting 1/13 in this stretch.
Steph always has highlight plays every season and this year is no different. However this year the individual highlights are being accompanied by team lowlights. This is not where the Warriors want to be and Steph needs to snap up a winning streak for the warriors along with the ankle breaking.
