The world of sports has often had an argument upon NBA or NFL being the stronger and more physical league. With time and again, NBA and its marquee superstars being trolled for showboating their injuries, NFL was derived as much more superior American league in terms of physicality. But with Deroy Williams vs Frank Gore being one of the first NBA vs NFL encounters inside the boxing ring, the tables seemed to have taken a major turn.
The heavyweight contest featured former All-Star point guard Deroy Williams locking horns against NFL great Frank Gore in a four-round wild exhibition. However, via a split decision it was Williams who came out victorious after evidently dominating and tangling past his opponent, Gore in fine fashion. From uppercuts to jabs, the former all-star seemed to have brought his A-Game to the boxing ring.

NBA Fans celebrate the win of Deroy Williams by mocking NFL fans
Fans saw Deroy Williams vs Frank Gore comprising of massive punches and each of the boxers being pushed through the ropes. In fact, at times the bout looked to be as much of a wrestling match as a boxing match. Eventually, Williams credited with the only knockdown. That came in the third round when Williams blindsided Gore with a right hand and unloaded punches as Gore held on to the corner post and ropes before the referee intervened and ruled it a knockdown.
As a result of which, both the judges scored the fight in Williams’ favor, 40-35 and 38-37. The third judge scored the fight for Gore, 38-37. Williams threw 48 punches, including 35 power shots, and Gore threw 39 punches, including 28 power shots. Making sure that NBA scores its first points against NFL in a highly physical banter between two heavyweight personnel.
