Russell Westbrook Height: How tall is Mr. Triple-Double?

Russell Westbrook

Former MVP Russell Westbrook has improved a lot since the start of the season. Much of that can be attributed to his changed role as he now comes off the bench instead of starting. He is now a key contributor to most of the Lakers’ victories and remains one of the highest-scoring players in all of the Lakers’ games. This comes at a time when the team is missing their star player Anthony Davis. Surely Westbrook and LeBron James have stepped up to the role and are doing well individually.

What will surprise most fans is that Brodie has achieved so much with a height disadvantage. Westbrook is only 6’3 compared to the average NBA player who is 6’6 in height. It is desired by most teams that their players be tall rather than being built. Being huge was all that mattered when the NBA first started. On the shoulders of giants, very literally, the league was formed. The essential characteristic somebody might have was their height, followed by their overall bulk and weight.

However, Russell Westbrook is the best-known player possessing a combination of both. He doesn’t have the typical point guard build. Instead, he is tall (6’3) and very powerful (200 pounds). Even though that combination is already outstanding, his agility and verticality make it even more so.

The Lakers guard possesses a 36.5-inch vertical leap (93 cm). That is incredibly punchy, especially given that he is one of the NBA’s fastest players. He has a football player’s physique and is skilled at using it to both defend and score. He has the ability to fly over or push through opponents.

Despite the Lakers being handed a 2-game losing streak after their back-to-back losses at the hands of the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks, there is some hope within the Lakers’ camp. Russell Westbrook is excelling at his role of coming off the bench and scoring for the Lakers when it matters the most.

Westbrook has scored 20+ points in his last 4 out of 5 games. His latest was 28 points, 7 rebounds 5 assists, and 2 steals. Despite scoring the team-high 28, the Lakers eventually lost to the Mavericks 115-119. The game saw the return of King James who scored 24 points, a low in comparison to his latest performances. Russ is currently averaging 15.4 points a game, 6.4 rebounds, and 7.8 assists this season.
