Many suggest Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan to be the most ideal teammates in the history of NBA. The duo ruled to 90s for Chicago Bulls, not only did they ensure consecutive championship against the name of the franchise but were called as the Batman and Robin of the league. However, for the second time in a single week’s time Scottie Pippen has fired shots at iconic teammate Michael Jordan in his new book. 

Now to start with the basics, speaking with Frank Isola on SiriusXM’s NBA Radio after playing through a back injury in the 1998 NBA Finals, Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen asked a rhetorical question comparing his performance to teammates’ Michael Jordan’s legendary Flu Game’ in 1997.

To those who are not aware, Chicago Bulls won Game 6 of the 1998 NBA finals by a point over the rigorous Utah Jazz in what is still the most-watched game on television in the league’s history. Michael Jordan’s mid-range jumper over Bryon Russell to take the lead with five seconds left remains an iconic moment in NBA history. Which is still regarded as one of the most clutch moments of all-time in the history of NBA

However, Scottie Pippen, who recorded 8 points, three rebounds and four assists in just over 25 minutes, said he was suffering from a back issue that would have kept him out of a potential Game 7 if the Chicago Bulls didn’t clinch its third straight title in Game 6.

“No, I was done, pretty much,” Former Chicago Bulls’ Scottie Pippen urged. “I struggled to pull it through in that game and I suffered from it. Still suffering from it. But I wouldn’t have played in a Game 7. I just wasn’t able to go.” 

Having said that, it is not only Pippen, but many hoop fans suggest that the marquee Bulls’ player was never appreciated for much of his efforts shown. Especially in instances where the team, including Jordan were struggling, it is Pippen who led the team in the playoffs.
