Trae Young led the Atlanta Hawks to a much-needed victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers on road on Friday Night. The Atlanta Hawks snapped their 3-game losing streak, and improve their record to 16-19. The Cavaliers, however, will have it tough for them after losing Ricky Rubio for the season.

For the Hawks, Trae Young scored 35 points and dished out 11 assists. Clint Capela scored 18 points, grabbed 23 rebounds and blocked four shots. Capela also slightly missed his career-high of 12 Offensive rebounds by one. Lou Williams also proved handy as he scored 14 points off the bench.

For the Cavaliers, Evan Mobley continued to make a strong case for himself for the Rookie Of The Year, having 16 points, five assists and three blocks. Kevin Love looked like his prime self in this game, getting 35 points, 11 rebounds, and drilling in seven 3-pointers. This was his first 35/10 game since 2017.

The Hawks were trailing for most of the game. At the end of the first half, the Hawks were down by 15 points. Hawks then tried to make a comeback into the game. They got their first lead of the game with 2:45 remaining in the 3rd quarter, thanks to a 30-foot step-back 3-pointer by Trae Young. This put the Hawks up by one point, with the score being 85-84

Trae Young surpasses Michael Jordan

This was Trae Young’s 8th game with 30+ points and 10+ assists this season. In his short but impressive career thus far, Young already had 38 such games before this one against the Cavs. With this game, however, Young recorded his 39th such game, surpassing Michael Jordan for 30 points/10 assists games. Trae Young is now 8th in the all-time list of 30p/10a games, tied with Damian Lillard and Kevin Johnson.

James Harden (96 games) leads the pack followed by LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, Isiah Thomas, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, and now Trae Young.

Young is averaging 27.3 points, 9.3 assists per game for the season. He is shooting 36% from threes. The Hawks are 12th in the Eastern Conference and will visit Portland for their next game against the Trail Blazers.
