Russell Westbrook gets hits in mouth during Lakers vs Knicks clash

Russell Westbrook came out with an inspiring triple-double for the Los Angeles Lakers when the purple and gold army were on road to lock horns against the New York Knicks. Being without LeBron James (1-game suspension), it was the former who managed to register 31 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists yet the away side slipped to the 9th spot in the Western Conference standings after suffering their 10th loss of the season. 

Talking about precise statistics, this was the Lakers’ 7th loss of the NBA 2021-22 Season without LeBron James. Interestingly, the team is 5-3 when LeBron James has been with them, while they are 4-7 in his absence. Furthermore, Russell Westbrook took a devastating knock on his face, which made blood pouring out of his mouth.

As the Lakers vs Knicks showdown began, the home team seemed to be dominating the Lakers. They outscored the purple and gold 36-20 in the first quarter, which had fans believing that this would be just another one of those easier games that this LA team is bound to lose. Fortunately, the game started to turn around after. By the third quarter, the Lakers found themselves equalizing the Knicks on the scoreboard.

But in the midst of all this, an incident in the second quarter has everyone furious. After Westbrook was backhand slapped by a Knicks player, he was seen down on the floor and was even bleeding through his mouth.  

An obvious foul call for most wasn’t one for the referees who refused to even review it. This made Russell Westbrook extremely angry who tried to get them to call it but with no luck, the game went on.
