Up until forty-eight hours ago, the NFL world was staring at the probability of Davante Adams leaving the Las Vegas Raiders via trade. His two strongest suitors amongst many were the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints. Those teams were thought to be at the front considering they also happen to field the two quarterbacks the star WR has succeeded with. Head coach Antonio Pierce too was resigned to losing him.
The first-year head coach stood in front of reporters after the Raiders’ practice session. When asked about his superstar receiver not padding up, Antonio Pierce only had good things to say about Adams.
For all the news surrounding Davante Adams that has circulated recently, this latest statement from his head coach suggests otherwise. There is a chance that the star receiver could end up staying in Las Vegas.
The New York Jets and New Orleans Saints were the front runners to trade for him as reported by several sources. But the Raiders demanding a second-round pick was too high a price for a receiver turning 32 by the end of this year. Add to that his salary will be the highest in the league for a wideout.
Interesting back and forth on the Davante Adams situation from Antonio Pierce.

Those are not particularly desirable tradeoffs for any team, even if they need contributors. It seems interest in Davante Adams has since cooled off. With Pierce’s words, it seems he might just continue playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Davante Adams might not play this week against another suitor
The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Nevada to play against the Las Vegas Raiders this week. Ironically, the franchise was also thought to be in the running to land Davante Adams. How far those negotiations have gone is unknown. But it does bring intrigue if he played against them.
But as per the latest injury report, so far it looks unlikely that the wideout will play. He did not practice with his teammates today as he continues to manage his hamstring. Even though there are a few days to go before he needs to suit up, the team might not risk it all by asking him to play.
Whatever happens about his trade request, Adams needs to be in his best shape for any move to push through. If he does not move, his health will be of prime importance to the Raiders if they are to fight for a playoff berth.
