“It’s in Lamar Jackson’s Best Interest to Get a Deal Done”- Adam Schefter wants the Ravens QB to get his new contract deal completed ASAP!

Adam Schefter and Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson who is the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens is a phenomenal talent and when fit he is regularly in the MVP award discussion during the season and is a widely admired player around the league by his peers and his big fanbase who have been following him since his high-school days.
He is still on his rookie contract where he is earning around $20 million per year and will be looking to get a big extension just like other quarterbacks in the league like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Lamar won the MVP award in 2019 and has been a franchise player of the Ravens since then and for the foreseeable future.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter spoke on the situation of Lamar Jackson’s contract at the Baltimore Ravens and said, “It’s in Lamar Jackson’s Best Interest to Get a Deal Done.”, indicating that the QB should get the deal done as soon as possible.
“If I was Lamar Jackson, I wouldn’t step onto the field until a deal is done.”- Adam Schefter

Speaking about Lamar Jackson’s contract renewal at the Baltimore Ravens, Adam Schefter said, “If I was Lamar Jackson, I wouldn’t step onto the field until a deal is done.”, reflecting that Lamar is the one who is delaying the deal and should be getting that contract because his playstyle can bring a serious injury which can make him lose millions of dollars. As he is at his peak currently, he should be securing that long contract immediately.
He added, “If I’m my own agent, I’m making sure that my deal gets done, especially with the way that he plays,” Schefter said. “I’d be real leery about stepping on the football field until my deal was done.”

Adam Schefter further said, “I think Baltimore is absolutely interested in extending him and the reason it hasn’t gotten extended is because Lamar has been more interested in playing football and doing whatever he does. At some point, to me, it’s in his best interest to sit down and get that deal done. If I were Lamar Jackson that would be my offseason priority, to make sure that I don’t step foot on a football field again until I have one of those lucrative new contracts that puts me in line with these higher-paid quarterbacks in the league.”
He added, “I’m sure there are people that have his best interest at heart without a shadow of a doubt. But we’re talking about a deal that could be five years, $40 million, a $200 million deal. If you were doing a $200 million deal, I think you’d like to have people work on it that are familiar with that, regardless of the commission.”
It will be interesting to see how Lamar figures out his new deal in the currently ongoing off-season and it will bring more clarity to both him and the franchise.
