Bill Belichick gives his judgement on Jaguars rookie QB Trevor Lawrence ahead of Patriots’ clash in Week 17

The New England Patriots take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17 of the National Football League, and the Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick gave his judgement on one of the players he will face this weekend. Belichick spoke very highly of the Jaguars’ rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence as he tries to maintain his record against rookie quarterbacks.

Belichick is a master tactician when it comes up on how to deal with the oppositions’ rookie quarterback and will look to do just that when the Patriots face the Jaguars. Lawrence has struggled throughout his rookie season, with his 14 interceptions being tied for the league lead.

Belichick has backed trevor Lawrence to become a NFL great in future

However, Belichick did not shy away from praising the promising youngster despite him not having a great rookie season this year.

“I think he’s gotten more comfortable as the season’s gone on and gotten comfortable with the offense. I’d say the offense has gotten comfortable with the things that he does best,” Bill Belichick said Friday.

Belichick praised Trevor Lawrence for his performance against the New York Jets, citing that time has helped the sid get accustomed to the style of play that the youngster brings with him. Trevor has shown his wide range of passing and that was another thing that seemed to have caught the attention of the Patriots coach.

“Definitely, a good level of execution there. They did a good job last week against the Jets, mixing in different varieties of passes: quick throws, moving pocket throws, deep balls, third-down conversions, red-area plays. He’s pretty good at all of them and continues to get better. 

“I think he’s had a good year and I think he’ll be a solid NFL player, maybe great. I don’t know, but he’s certainly made a lot of progress this year.”
