Chicago Bears DE Mario Edwards Jr Being Sued For Alleged Assault

Chicago Bears defensive lineman, Mario Edwards Jr has been accused of assaulting a woman in the preceding year at a hotel in Charlotte. Edwards Jr. who is 27 years old was sued by the Charlotte woman for aggravating physically after she turned down his advances for sexual intercourse. Going by the report of WSOC-TV, the woman is suing Edwards, the entire team and an off-duty police officer for the night in question.

The lawsuit that has been filed states, Joann Blakney, was assaulted physically by Edwards Jr in a hotel room and much to her woes, all of this unfolded when she was pregnant. She also stated that she has known Edwards for a staggering 10 years as the duo has dated on and off for several years finally before calling off the relationship in 2019.

In October 2020, Edwards Jr. was in Charlotte to face the Carolina Panthers. During his sojourn at the hotel in Charlotte, he called up Joann to meet him. During her visit, she said that she had been physically assaulted when she turned down the request for sexual intercourse from the Bears defensive lineman. She also said that after the assault she approached an off-duty CMPD officer who was stationed in the hotel lobby.

As she reported the offence, the policewoman didn’t alert the constabulary, instead, she went to the Bears staff and alerted them about the entire incident. Many members of the staff instantly approached Blakney and wanted to sort out the incident mutually. In fact, one staff member even asked her whether she would like money for compensation. Blakney reported the entire incident to the police who was extremely late in arriving at the hotel.

The blame game flapped its wings majestically as Edwards Jr told the police that Blakney was a prostitute which was downright denied by her. Joann was taken to a nearby hospital to check if her baby was hurt in the process. Edwards Jr is currently facing impending charges for assault against Joann Blakney. She was also heard quoting that she had assault charges filed against her by Edwards which has cost her job and she is not able to find employment after the latest development.
