Jalen Hurts was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and now he has cemented himself as the franchise quarterback as he has led the Eagles to a playoff spot this season despite the doubts about him.

To partner with Hurts, the Eagles drafted Devonta Smith with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Smith was the reigning Heisman Trophy Winner from Alabama. Jalen Hurts got the chance to reunite with his former college teammate in the NFL for the Eagles and now together the QB-WR duo has been performing really well for the team.

Devonta Smith says he met Jalen for the first time when he was a recruit and Jalen was his host. The Wide Receiver and the Quarter Back played together with Alabama in college prior to NFL and have had a great bonding since then.

The reporter asked Smith whether his opinion about Jalen has changed from the first time he met him and now over the years,to which Davonta replied with “No, my opinion about him has not changed a bit as it is as same as it was in the start ‘laid back and talking football.”

Devonta Smith has been impressive so far in his rookie season as he has recorded 875 receiving yards with 5 touchdowns on just 61 receptions in 16 matches.

A promising season from Jalen Hurts

Jalen had high expectations coming into the season as he had replaced Wentz last season for the role of starting Quarterback of the franchise to which he has fulfilled as he has led the team to a playoff berth in the NFC.

Jalen has thrown and rushed for 3144 yards while recording 16 touchdowns and having 9 interceptions with a passer rating of 87.19.

He would look to improve his stats in the next season as he might be the Eagles QB for a very long time if he keeps improving on his performances as he has always done.

Jalen was very happy when the Eagles drafted his former college teammate Devonta Smith as the duo had performed well together in the College and have shown early signs of doing that in the NFL also.

Jalen and Devonta would look to form a formidable duo to lead the franchise in the future and reach the ultimate goal which is to win a Super Bowl.
