Sean McVay and Aaron Donald are the talk of the town in the NFL right now. Having brought the Los Angeles Rams their first Super Bowl in over 20 years, their stock couldn’t be higher right now.

Since arriving in Los Angeles, Sean McVay is yet to have a losing season. In 4 of his 5 seasons, the Rams have had double-digit wins. Just a reminder, Mcvay took over a team that had 10 straight losing seasons. You have to go back to 2003 to find the last winning season for the Rams prior to McVay.

His arrival absolutely revolutionized the team and turned them into yearly contenders. That includes 2 Super Bowl appearances and now 1 ring too. His value to the team is stratospheric.

Aaron Donald in the meantime has been dominating every single season. In his career, Donald now has 8 Pro Bowls, 7 All-Pros, 3 DPOYs and a Super Bowl ring. Donald is simply irreplaceable. There is no one in the league that the Rams could find to match his impact.

With that in mind, Chris Broussard gave his take on what would hurt the Rams more if one of them were to retire.

Chris Broussard claims that Sean McVay is more important than Aaron Donald

On a segment of Fox Sports’ ‘First Things First’, Chris Broussard was quoted saying “Aaron Donald is better than playing football than Sean McVay is at coaching. That being said, in this situation I do think that it’d be a bigger loss to lose Sean McVay than Aaron Donald.”

Broussard further added “They had Aaron Donald for three years before Sean McVay got there. And, the Rams were terrible. With Aaron Donald tearing up the league, making Pro Bowls and being named All-Pro. They won 4 games in his last year before Sean McVay got there.”

About McVay, Broussard said “Sean McVay gets to the Rams and takes those same players and they go from 4 wins to 11 in his first year. In his second year, they go to the Super Bowl. Three years after that they win the Super Bowl. In football, more than any other sport, coaching makes the difference. Sean McVay, the difference he makes for that team can’t be overstated.”

While it seems like Sean Mcvay is definitely sticking around in Los Angeles, it’s currently unknown what Aaron Donald’s plans are. Regardless, if the Rams were to lose Aaron Donald, their defense most certainly would not be the same force it is now but there are still numerous playmakers on that team so, they’d still be a winning team.

If McVay were to leave and not be replaced by someone of a similar caliber, the Rams simply would not be in contention for the Super Bowl year in, year out like they are right now. The talent is there but they need the right person leading them from the front and Sean McVay is that person.
