Matthew Stafford has done an exceptional job this year with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Detriot Lions for 12 years where he couldn’t make a strong impact in the game.
However, with the Rams, in just one season, he made his first career playoff appearance since being selected No.1 overall in the 2009 draft. Now, the Rams are just one victory away from playing the Super Bowl at their home ground. Undisputed co-host, Shannon Sharpe is confident in Stafford’s ability and believes the Rams will win the NFC Championship.
“I love the way Stafford plays”: Shannon Sharpe is in awe of Matthew Stafford
“I’m gonna take Matthew Stafford over Jimmy Garoppolo”, Sharpe said showing his trust in the Rams’ QB. “Jimmy G has done okay. Over the last couple of games, he’s gotten credit but he hasn’t done a whole lot of participating. Last week he only got the 49ers 6 points.” The 49ers’ offense didn’t score a single touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round. The Niners’ victory can be attributed to their Special Teams’ mind-blowing performance.
“I love the way Stafford plays. What he showed you last week was why the Rams mortgaged their future. Why they gave up their first two round and Jared Goff. It says if we have this guy, he gives us an opportunity to go to the next level”, the Hall of Famer added.
“The 49ers did an unbelievable job last week of neutralizing Davante Adams. After that first drive, the 49ers basically rendered him useless. Yeah, he had 9 nine catches but none of the catches after the first drive impacted the game,” Shannon said praising San Francios’ defense. He said this is the reason why you draft Odell Beckham Jr. He said the 49ers will be busy covering Cooper Kupp and that leaves OBJ on single coverage which makes it’s easier for the Rams to score TDs.
Shannon continued, “The San Franciso defense has been flagged for the most pass interference. The guy that’s referring this game, his crew they throw the most flags. So, that tells me Skip that the game there are gonna be a lot of drives kept alive by pass interference on either side.”
“So, I went with a high scoring game Skip. I think the final score is gonna be 31-27. I’m gonna take the Rams.” The Rams will face the 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night at SoFi Stadium.
