Brock Purdy‘s performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 13 has been hailed by a lot of people. Analysts brought him back to the MVP debate after the game and he was flooded with appreciation for the fans.

A game with four touchdowns and more than 300 yards was enough to move on to cloud nine. This is not the first time Purdy was so clinical against a big team. He nearly had the same performance against the Dallas Cowboys. It was also a very crucial game for the 49ers.

Purdy’s masterclass also influenced the general manager of the team John Lynch. He was charmed by the magic that Purdy showed on the turf. It was so impacting that he went straight up to him, hugged him, and said he was proud of the heroics that Purdy offered on the pitch. A video went viral depicting this scene. It captured a smiling Lynch going and hugging a tired and sweaty Purdy and exchanging some pleasant words.

Purdy knew the importance of the game to get the No. 1 seed in the NFC Championship and hence left no stone unturned to secure a win. His mammoth performance made Jalen Hurts a ‘Lilliput’ despite covering 298 yards with a touchdown.

Purdy was well supported by Deebo Samuel, his wide receiver. Two of Purdy’s touchdowns came from Samuel’s two drives. The entire 49ers team was on fire against the Eagles.

Revenge well claimed by Brock Purdy and the 49ers

A few months back, nearly the same 49ers team faced the rowdy Eagles crowd in a bone-chilling atmosphere inside the Lincoln Financial Field. It was the NFC Championship game where both had a faceoff.

In front of very few of their fans, the San Francisco 49ers were defeated. Purdy ended up with an injury and had to leave the field. His replacement also met with the same fate. With two vital injuries, the 49ers had little to do to prevent a defeat.

It was almost an action replay of what happened a few months back. Same stadium, the same crowd, and nearly the same rosters. The only difference was the 49ers had some more voices to cheer. And they grabbed their sweet revenge.

The 49ers humbled the Eagles with the instinct of a killer. That was the sole reason some of their players were donned in all black. Trent Williams, the veteran OT, later revealed that he dressed up in black so that it could reflect that they were going to a funeral.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles make their comeback. They have a few games to hop on. Their next is against the Cowboys who are presently standing at a 9-3 record.
