Damar Hamlin’s ‘first of its kind’ injury has shaken the world of sports. Many people watching it from the home were emotional about it. But it was the players who got affected the most by this unfortunate and horrific injury.
On Monday, the Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin was injured during the first quarter of the Bengals-Bills matchup in week 17 of the regular season football. Hamlin was administered CPR after they found out that he wasn’t breathing and was soon transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in an ambulance. The players were visibly shaken and were seen on their knees praying for Hamlin’s health.
The game was postponed indefinitely by the National Football League. Hamlin is still in critical condition but has some positive signs of improvement that the doctors were hoping for. Many players, fans, and NFL teams started donating money to Hamlin’s GoFundMe campaign, which was initially set by the young safety himself for his charity foundation.
Injuries are very common in football and the players know they are risking their bodies every time they step onto the field. However, no one has seen an injury like this and the players still haven’t recovered from this incident. NFL QB Aaron Rodgers has shared his perspective on the whole incident in his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said that he wasn’t watching the game at first and only switched on his television around halftime but when he saw the game in the studio setup, he knew something was wrong and then he saw the reports that came from the Paul Brown Stadium.
The Veteran quarterback said as much as there are rivalries and there’s bad blood, still, at the end of the day they share a professional bond. Furthermore, he compared the NFL players to the Gladiators. “We know that we are the modern-day gladiators. We are providing entertainment for the masses and doing something we love, but we’re also putting our bodies and our future health on the line, and I think that is one thread that connects all of us,” said Rodgers on the Pat McAfee Show.
The back-to-back MVP also explained the impact that injury had on the NFL players. He said that when injuries like this happen; it shakes people because they never think something of this magnitude will happen on the field. “It fu*k*d me up last night,” said Rodgers about the Damar Hamlin injury.
Rodgers also praised the two head coaches, Sean McDermott and Zac Taylor, for how they handled the whole situation. And he also revealed that he texted the Bills’ QB Josh Allen after seeing him distraught on the field and Allen responded from the locker room.
On the sporting side of things, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have an important week coming up as they prepare to face the Detroit Lions in a must-win game. If the Packers can defeat the Lions, they can clinch a playoff spot.
