It’s not easy to take responsibility when the blame isn’t even directed towards you. Kansas City Chiefs players know that very well. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently spoke about taking responsibility for the loss against their rival Philadelphia Eagles. And now tight end Travis Kelce also held himself accountable for the loss.

In a recent press conference, the reporters were attempting to bait the tight end into blaming the Chiefs’ wide receivers for multiple drops in a Monday night football game held at Arrowhead Stadium. But Kelce knew better and instead focused on how he was responsible for the loss due to his red zone fumble.

However, the reporters didn’t seem convinced as they again doubled down on Kelce to put the blame on someone else. That’s when the tight end lashed out against them, saying:

This season, the Chiefs have been atop on dropped passes. In the game against the Eagles, the receivers dropped some very crucial points-gaining passes. The most crucial one was in the red zone, dropped by Marquez Valdes-Scantling, in the final moments of the game.

The team is now standing at 7-3, leading the AFC West. But one thing that remained intact is the team bonding, as instead of pointing fingers at each other, Chiefs players took the responsibility for their own actions. And that sure is commendable!

Jason Kelce sympathized with brother Travis Kelce

Apart from being a mega matchup between the rivals, it was also about the Kelce brothers who were facing each other again after last season’s Super Bowl. As the Chiefs fell short against the Eagles by 21-17, All-Pro center Jason Kelce was there for his brother Travis in the locker room.

According to a reporter, Jason sympathized with his brother’s loss and talked to him for 40 seconds in the Chiefs’ locker room. He knew how the tight end would have been feeling after the game, saying:

He's probably beating himself up pretty good right now.

In the second quarter, Travis led his team to the lead of 14-7 after catching the 4-yard touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes. However, he ended up with a fumble in the red zone in the fourth quarter. He also dropped a pass on the final drive of the Chiefs and finished with 7 catches for 44 yards.

Last time it was Jason who dealt with the loss, and this time it was Travis, that’s why the big brother knew that he needed to be there for his younger brother. They have had their ups and downs, but they are dearly close to each other.
