As if the situation in the Chicago Bears camp couldn’t get any worse. Besides failing to stop the streak of losses on Monday, reports coming out of the facility claim that defensive coordinator Alan Williams has resigned from the post.

“I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. Appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history,” Williams said in a statement yesterday. “I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for, and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again.”

According to reports from Bears reporter Courtney Cronin for ESPN.com, Williams, 53, has been absent from active duty for a week. She also emphasized that it was due to personal and health-related issues.

In the meantime, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus had to take charge of coordinating the defense against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their Week 2 game. If they don’t find a solution quickly, Eberflus will likely remain as the play-caller against the Kansas City Chiefs in their next match as well.

Did the FBI raid Halas Hall to arrest Alan Williams?

While there was nothing out of the ordinary about Alan Williams stepping down from the Bears coaching gig, it took a drastic turn when Jon Zaghloul of the Sports Talk Chicago YouTube channel tweeted that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Halas Hall. Not only that, he mentioned Williams’ house was also searched after the Bears lost 38-20 to the Green Bay Packers on opening day.

Zaghloul revealed his conversation with agent Charles Tillman, who was in charge of the whole ordeal. Tillman reportedly told him that the raid was carried out because of Alan Williams alleged criminal activity. Not only that, they were also looking into Eberflus, general manager Ryan Poles, and president Kevin Warren.

However, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that the FBI did not raid Halas Hall and that Tillman was not involved in any way. Later, Brandon Faber, Vice President of Communications for the Bears, denied any rumors surrounding an FBI raid on Halas Hall.

Nevertheless, one thing is certain: Williams is no longer part of the Chicago Bears. But there’s no news from his side regarding any FBI activity. Whether he will return for more coaching jobs remains up in the air.
