Baker Mayfield has been in the news for a lot of reasons lately. The man has been through a really tough phase and it appears that his time for redemption is finally here. Baker felt disrespected by the Browns after they went madly behind Deshaun and completely disregarded him.
Although there might have been a chance of the Browns giving him another go after Deshaun’s legal troubles started posing big problems for the Cleveland-based franchise. However, Baker had no interest in playing for them and eventually, he was traded to the Panthers.

As it turns out, Baker was actually celebrating his 3rd wedding anniversary with wife Emily in the Bahamas when the news of the trade broke and the man had no option but to fly back to complete all the formalities.
“I woke up in the Bahamas for our anniversary, then flew to Charlotte, had dinner in Charlotte, did the contract, got the physical, did all that,” Baker said, as reported by the Panthers. “We flew back home and were asleep in our own bed in Austin, Texas that night.”
While some have opined that now Baker will finally get to show his prowess for a team that is ready to trust him, many experts have stated that Baker might struggle in Carolina as the team is just not strong enough. Looking at how things have been for Mayfield in the recent past, the man has a lot riding on his shoulders.
The 2018’s number one overall pick hasn’t really been able to do justice to his talent and needless to say, guiding the Panthers out of their misery after all that transpired with them last year is not going to be easy at all. It will be interesting to see how Baker performs for his new franchise in the coming season.
