“He’s done that before,” Bengals CB Eli Apple accuses Mac Jones of being a Habitual DIRTY player
Mac Jones and Eli Apple
The Cincinnati Bengals won their game against the New England Patriots 22-18 on Christmas Eve. After the game, the Bengals defensive back called out the Pats QB Mac Jones for what he felt was a dirty hit.
During the fourth quarter of the game, when the Patriots were trying to catch up with their opponents’ score, Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. During the fumble return, Eli Apple was trying to clear the way for Germaine Pratt when Jones tried to block him by diving at the legs of the sprinting cornerback.
The touchdown didn’t stand as the officials ruled Jones’ pass as incomplete instead of a fumble but Eli Apple did not forget about the dirty play by the Patriots quarterback. “Of course, I did (notice it). He tripped me,” Apple said after the game. “I thought it was a dirty play. He’s done that before, I’ve seen it.” Apple wasn’t too thrilled by the dangerous block by Jones. Fortunately, Apple did suffer any injuries during that play.
As Apple noted, this is not the first time Jones has been accused of being a dirty player. Earlier in the season, when the Patriots went against the Bears, Jones was accused of raising his cleats to hit the Bears’ safety Jaquan Brisker while sliding. Also during last season, Carolina Panthers OLB Brian Burns called out the Alabama product for twisting his ankles.
New England Patriots went on to lose the game 22-18. Pats RB Rhamndore Stevenson fumbled the football inside the red zone with one minute left in the fourth quarter. With the loss, the Patriots’ hope to make it to playoffs became drastically less.

Cincinnati Bengals are on a roll
The Cincinnati Bengals surprised everyone last season when they went all the way to the Super Bowl. After a successful season, the Bengals are met with high expectations even before this season started.
The Bengals started this season with back-to-back losses against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys but they quickly sorted things out and got back to winning ways. With two weeks left in the NFL regular season, the Bengals are still in play for the No.1 seed in the AFC.
The Cincinnati-based franchise is on a 7-game winning streak and has to win out the rest of their games. If that happens and the Chiefs lose one of their remaining games, the Bengals will get the No.1 seed in the AFC. But the path is not easy for Joe Burrow and his team as they have to face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in week 17 and their AFC North division rival Baltimore Ravens in week 18 of the NFL regular season.
