The Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes will take on Joe Burrow and the Bengals in the AFC Conference Championship game on Sunday. Ahead of their game, the rivalry has reached new heights, thanks to the players going back and forth on giving bulletin-board material to each other. Even Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval got involved in the rivalry, but he might have taken it one step too far.

Pureval made a proclamation for the Bengals QB Joe Burrow, who has a clean 3-0 record against the Chiefs and Mahomes, to take a paternity test to check whether he is indeed the father of the Chiefs franchise quarterback Mahomes.

“Be it proclaimed, whereas the Cincinnati Bengals are headed to Burrowhead Stadium for their second consecutive AFC Championship Game. … Whereas Joseph Lee Burrow, who is 3-0 against Mahomes, has been asked by officials to take a paternity test confirming whether or not he’s his father,” Pereval said.

This statement by Pureval has created a massive storm in social media and even many Bengals fans thought it was an unnecessary jab against the MVP candidate and that a Mayor shouldn’t indulge in activities like this.

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval has since apologized for his statement, but the damage was already done. He got a reply from many people, including Kansas Mayor Quinton Lucas and Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany Mahomes.

“Sorry, y’all. I hear the mayor of Cincinnati has tried to bring some smoke that’s weak as hell. Catching up now…,” tweeted Kansas Mayor Quinton Lucas referring to the “weak” diss by the Cincinnati Mayor. Brittany Mahomes quoted Lucas’s tweet and called out Aftab Pureval for his classless diss. “WEAK. & embarrassing,” wrote Brittany.

However, Lucas didn’t stop with one tweet, he took the opportunity to diss the whole of Cincinnati for their Mayor’s actions. “Agreed. No need to respond. KC’s got class. Cincinnati has Jerry Springer and no rings. See them Sunday,” tweeted Lucas. “Game. Sunday. See y’all then.”

On the sporting side of things, the Kansas City Chiefs will use these back-and-forth altercations as bulletin-board material for their game against the defending AFC Champions Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Conference Championship game on Sunday. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow will look to maintain his neat 3-0 record against his arch-rival QB Mahomes and make a Super Bowl appearance for the second year in a row.
