“Gruden won 2 Super Bowls for the Bucs” NFL analyst reveals hilarious insider jokes sparked by Tom Brady’s trade rumours to the Raiders
Rick Stroud on Tom Brady.
Tom Brady has finally returned to the Buccanneers after 11 days of break which were filled with speculations and some surprising news. Brady’s absence was attributed to his mother’s health and marital problems to an appearance on the Masked Singer. If you thought the speculations about his absence were wild then Dana White’s revelations about an almost deal for Brady and Gronk to the Raiders being vetoed by John Gruden is even wilder.
The Dana White admission had captured the world’s attention for quite some time. Now that Brady has returned to the Buccaneers many in the media wanted to ask Brady on behalf of the world what happened there but Brady was ahead of the media and claimed that he had seen all the theories about where he was going to land but per him, he was only going to go to one place and that’s where he is. So when Rick Stroud a Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat writer was on the Rich Eisen Show he was asked about the Tom Brady rumours.
“He did contact a lot of teams,” Rick Stroud on Tom Brady’s possible trade talks to the Raiders
Rick Stroud has been there for all of it Brady as a free agent talking to all the teams including the Bucs finally ending up in Tampa, Bucs winning the Super Bowl with Brady under center, the tumultuous last season, the Antonio Brown walkout, and finally all the Brady madness this year from his retirement to the retirement reversal and this strange offseason. Stroud is perhaps quite suited to answer this question.
Stroud said, “He talked about you know hey I read all these stories about all these teams I am supposed to go to and all I can tell you is this was the team[the Buccaneers] I always wanted to play for……..yeah except for that’s probably not entirely true, he did contact a lot of teams or they contacted him. We know about San Francisco, we know about the Raiders.“
Eisen interrupted and said, “We know about Miami.” Eisen had quite a laugh referring to the Miami Dolphins’ tampering fiasco for which the team and their owner have been punished.
Stroud added, “A joke you know going around is that Gruden has won two Superbowls for the Bucs, one in 02 and then the one he gave them when he didn’t take Tom Brady,” referring to Gruden’s term as Head Coach of the Buccaneers from 2002-2008 when he led them to their first-ever Super Bowl.
All jokes aside Tom Brady is one of the greatest to ever do it if not the greatest and despite this bizarre off-season he still has the ability at the age of 45 to lead the Buccaneers to another Super Bowl if not more and his top position in the NFL Top 100 players prove that his colleagues think so too. Let’s see how it goes.
