After months and months of speculations, the Arizona Cardinals recently released their star wideout DeAndre Hopkins. The talented wide receiver will now test the free agency and is expected to sign with contenders such as Buffalo Bills or Kansas City Chiefs. Amidst this situation, some recent reports suggest the Cardinals were upset with Hopkins for sitting out multiple games.
A long-time Cardinals reporter Kyle Odegard made a shocking claim that some people in the Cardinals front office are upset with the 5-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins for sitting out 2 games in the 2022 regular season despite being healthy. The 30-year-old wide receiver was listed out with a knee injury in the injury report.
But Odegard now claims that Hopkins wasn’t injured at all. He was just sitting out the 2022 season that ended up being an abysmal year for the Cardinals with an ugly 4-13 record. Hopkins’ lack of commitment has allegedly upset some people in the Cardinals’ organization. The 3-time All-Pro receiver was suspended for the first six games by the league for violating NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Drug policies.
Hopkins played 9 games in the 2022 season and registered 717 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. He was released by the Cardinals last week in a cost-cutting move and is currently negotiating with other teams.

Ideal landing spots for ex-Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins
The Arizona Cardinals recently made a cost-cutting move by releasing the 30-year-old receiver DeAndre Hopkins a few days ago. The former Cardinals pass catcher is currently looking for a new home and receiving interest from multiple teams.
Hopkins reportedly received substantial trade interests from multiple teams, including the Bill and the Chiefs. However, now that he has been released, there are multiple other teams, including the New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens are showing massive interest in signing the explosive wide receiver per reports.
The Ravens giving a one-year $18 million contract to Odell Beckham Jr. has increased the price for a wide receiver in the free agency market. If Odell is worth $18 million, Hopkins would certainly expect more than that.
Teams like the NY Jets and the Ravens might not be able to afford DeAndre Hopkins, since they have already spent a lot of money in the off-season. Therefore, Hopkins will probably end up with the Chiefs and the Bills before the start of the 2023 season. Furthermore, some teams like the Green Bay Packers or the New York Giants might swoop in to acquire the 6’1″ pass catcher.
