The Las Vegas Raiders haven’t had the best of starts to the 2023 NFL season. After winning their first game of the season against division rivals the Denver Broncos, the Raiders have lost their next two games and are at 1-2 to begin the season. The Raiders have a bad defense and a major reason for that is the absence of star defensive end Chandler Jones.
Jones hasn’t played for the Raiders this season after the defenseman posted on his Instagram account that he didn’t want to play for them anymore. He then took to Twitter to post a series of tweets criticizing the Raiders organization especially GM Dave Ziegler and owner Mark Davies. Jones recently revealed that he was forced to stay away from the team.
Jones claimed that he was staying at a mental health facility where he wasn’t offered a bed and had to sleep on the floor. In a handwritten letter, he said that he called GM Ziegler several times but did not receive any response. He also said that his brother bought him food and clothes and his father read him Bible verses. Jones claimed that he was absolutely fine and was losing $1 million every game he missed. The entire situation is weird and one could only hope that Jones’ mental health is in the right place.
Jones was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2012. He won Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2016. He established himself as one of the best players in his position during his time with the Cardinals. The Raiders signed him at the beginning of 2022.

The Raiders place Chandler Jones on non-football illness list
The Chandler Jones-Las Vegas Raiders situation is getting more weirder by the day. Jones hasn’t played in the 2023 season due to a ‘personal situation.’ The Raiders have placed him on a non-football illness list and will be out indefinitely.
Jones shared some cryptic messages on his Twitter calling out the Raiders organization. He slammed GM Dave Ziegler, owner Mark Davis and the team’s HC Josh McDaniels. “It’s a personal situation and a private matter,” McDaniels said on September 6. “We have dealt with it, and I am not going to talk about it.”
Jones recorded 4.5 sacks last season for the Raiders. He has 112 sacks in his 11 years in the NFL. Jones recently said that he was forced to go to a mental health facility where he wasn’t given a bed. The Raiders and Jones will hope to get this situation sorted out as quickly as possible.
