Jalen Hurts, in his year 3, has exceeded all expectations and solidified himself as someone capable of being a long-time signal caller in the NFL. Also, the Philadelphia Eagles QB has proved a lot of his doubters wrong, including former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Chris Simms.

When the Eagles drafted Hurts with their second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, a lot of people, including the Philadelphia fans, considered it a waste of a draft pick since they already had Carson Wentz. However, it turned out that the Eagles made a wise decision to invest in Hurts. The Alabama product was a frontrunner for this season’s NFL MVP award before he went down with an injury and Wentz is battling Taylor Heinicke for the starting QB job of the Washington Commanders, which is his third team in the last three seasons.

Hurts has exploded in his third year and is getting a lot of deserved attention, but there are still many people that don’t believe in him. Earlier this season, the Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons told Von Miller that Hurts should not be in the MVP conversation because he benefits from a good team that has good players all around the field. Later, Chris Simms agreed with Parson’s take and said that the Eagles would still be good with Gardner Minshew (Eagles’ second-string QB).

This take was criticized by a lot of people and it certainly became a cold take when the Eagles lost two back-to-back games against the Cowboys and Saints without Hurts, who missed the games due to his injuries. ESPN’s SportsCenter took the chance to ridicule Simms by posting his old takes and it didn’t sit well with the NBC analyst.

Speaking on his show Chris Simms Unbuttoned, Simms admitted that Hurts make the Eagles a better team and went on to trash SportsCenter with profanity for repeatedly posting his old takes.

“Jalen Hurts makes them better, I know that!” Simms said on Monday. “F**k you, ‘SportsCenter’ Instagram for putting it out there again for the third time in like three weeks. F**k off. Really, f**k off. Seriously. They didn’t put my quote from after the Cowboys game, but they’re gonna wait till the game yesterday.”

While at first, he admitted that Hurts make the Eagles a better team; he went on to contradict his statement by saying that his old take about Hurts benefiting from his team was in an MVP debate context. He also challenged ESPN to a debate on the topic. “This was in the MVP debate context, like who is most valuable to the team,” Simms continued. “Let’s have a f**king conversation if you really want to get into this, ‘SportsCenter.’ Invite me on, ESPN, you scared little babies. They’re scared. They don’t want any piece of me,” said Simms on his show.

Chris Simms is a former NFL QB who played for three teams in his career. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003 and went on to have a couple of one-year stints with the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos.
