“He makes Skip look sane” – Colin Cowherd’s ‘braindead’ Steelers idea to trade TJ Watt and George Pickens to draft Caleb Williams sparks backlash
After Cowherd's suggestion went viral the social media called out his take as one of the dumbest ever.

Caleb Williams is easily one of the most sought-after players in college football. He is the driving force behind the USC Trojans, who currently boast a 100% win record in 2023. No wonder he is already attracting interest from several NFL sides, and Colin Cowherd has an inkling as to where he should go.
The FOX Sports analyst in a segment of The Herd claimed that the Pittsburgh Steelers should take a shot at Williams. Cowherd said if he were in the place of Steelers general manager Omar Khan, he would trade linebacker T.J. Watt, dynamic wide receiver Geroge Pickens, and three first-round picks to draft the 21-year-old.
“If I am Pittsburgh I would give up Watt, three firsts and Pickens for Caleb Williams,” said Cowherd on Friday’s episode of Herd.
Caleb Williams’ ceiling may be very high, but there’s no guarantee he will live up to expectations. Cowherd, in the past, has made some outlandish statements, but this is the pick of the bunch. Following his advice means parting ways with the NFL’s most dominant rushers as well as a lights-out playmaker.

If the Steelers do end up signing Williams, then what happens to Kenny Pickett? The 25-year-old is only playing his second season in the NFL. It’s true he has yet to prove himself, but the former first-round pick could easily blow up in the future. For that reason, social media thinks it’s another one of Cowherd’s bad hot takes.

The Steelers may be an outside shout, but as per several other NFL pundits, the Arizona Cardinals could genuinely be a viable destination for Caleb Williams. Kyler Murray is on the injured list, citing an ACL tear. He will miss the first four games. But replacement quarterback Joshua Dobbs has shown some good plays.
Then there are the Chicago Bears, who continue to stutter with Justin Fields. They have been without a win for almost a year. Not only that, the 24-year-old has been sacked 101 times in his infant NFL career.
Moreover, the Minnesota Vikings could be a viable option. Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins‘ tenure is coming to an end after this season. Then again, Caleb Williams may not even be available for the 2024 draft. According to reports, his father wants him to stay in college football for an extra year and avoid going to an unfavorable franchise.
