“This is a quarterback driven league” Commanders HC Ron Rivera blames his ‘quarterback’ situation for their abysmal record in NFC East this season

Ron Rivera and the Washington Commanders have had a disappointing start to the NFL 2022/23 season. They have just won one out of five games played, as they compete in one of the strongest divisions currently in the NFL.
With competition from teams like the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys looming high, HC Ron Rivera decided to let his QB take the fall for their below-average form this season.
Ron Rivera didn’t roast or criticize his QB Carson Wentz, he subtly let everyone know that the Commanders QB is a class below Cooper Rush of the Cowboys, Daniel Jones of the Giants and Jalen Hurts of the Eagles, who currently are one of the best QBs in the league with Patrick Mahomes.
When Ron Rivers was asked in the press conference about the sudden drop in form. HC Ron Rivera had just one thing to say ‘Quarterback’
“I think our quarterback has done some good things. There’s been a couple games he’s struggled. You look at his numbers from yesterday, he was okay. His numbers he’s had throughout the year, there have been times he was very solid,” Ron Rivera said in a press conference. “Most of the time he’s very solid. … But the way he performed yesterday? Just shows you what he’s capable of.”
Ron Rivera believes that the NFL is a quarterback-driven league

Ron Rivera strongly believes that the NFL is a quarterback-dominated league and the Commanders’ QB is a class below the other QBs in the same division. Commanders QB Carson Wentz was signed this season to improve the offence but according to HC Rivera, he still hasn’t managed to integrate himself into the squad.
Carson Wentz needs more time and Ron Rivera believes that with time he will build a strong squad around the QB. “The truth is, this is a quarterback-driven league,” Ron Rivera said. “The teams that have been able to sustain success, they’ve been able to build it around a specific quarterback.”
After this statement, Ron Rivera received lots of criticism for hating on his QB, to which he stated, “No, I’ve got no regrets about the quarterback. We chose him because we believe in him. We chose him because we looked at what we felt were things that pointed towards him.”
NFL analyst Alex Smith didn’t agree with Ron Rivera’s statement as he said it’s not all Wentz’s fault. “I had a really hard time watching that,” Smith said on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown.” “I’m not here to defend Carson Wentz … but this is a defensive head coach that’s driving the bus over his quarterback.”
