Damar Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills‘ defensive back has shown significant improvement in his health per his doctors. The 24-year-old was receiving treatment after he suffered a cardiac arrest during the Bengals-Bills game on Monday.

According to the doctors, Hamlin has opened his eyes and is physically and neurologically responsive. The young safety has been gripping the hands of his parents who are with him in the hospital. This is great news for the players and fans, who have been waiting and praying for the young man’s quick recovery.

Furthermore, Hamlin’s first question after he regained consciousness left the football fans in tears. As soon as the six-foot DB woke up he asked the doctors “did we win?” referring to the game in which suffered the tragic injury. He is writing his thoughts and questions on a piece of paper since he is still intubated. The doctors told the media that his inquiring about the game is a positive sign, “It’s not only that the lights are on. We know he’s home,”  said Dr.Timothy Pritts while addressing the media about Hamlin’s recovery.

His question about the game as soon as he regained consciousness spread around social media like wildfire. Many people were happy Hamlin has finally woken up and many people found it inspiring that after all, he went through he was still thinking about the game.

Hollywood celebrity and former WWE superstar Dwayne Johnson has shared a tweet about how he was moved by Hamlin’s recovery and inspired by the first question he asked the medical staff.

So inspired to hear the story of Damar Hamlin being able to communicate by writing, and wrote to the doctors, “Did we win?” And they respond with, “Yes, you won the game of life.” Man, it moves my soul that as he recovers he’s now feeling all the love and mana sent his way,” The Rock wrote in his tweet about Damar Hamlin’s recovery.

Along with The Rock, many people also shared a similar sentiment. The doctors also said that it is way too early to talk about Hamlin’s potential return to playing pro football and they’re just still focusing on making him recover to be his old self again.

On the business side of things, the NFL has officially announced they are canceling the postponed Bengals-Bills game and will let week 18 play out to decide how they can determine the perks the No.1 seed will get in the postseason.
