David Montgomery was drafted by the Chicago Bears after an immaculate run with Iowa State. The RB believed that the NFL will be full of victory and titles. However, it hasn’t been that way for him and the former Bears RB struggled massively.
After four long seasons with the Bears, Montgomery got ‘fed up’ of losing and moved to the Detroit Lions for better fortunes. Montgomery believes that the Lions will win a whole lot more than the Bears who had the worst record in the league last season.
The Lions RB recently stated in a video that playing with the Bears got increasingly frustrating as they had the worst record. Montgomery is a true competitor and likes the sweet taste of victory.
“That’s all I was used to,” David Montgomery stated after his move to the Lions. “And it got to a point where it sucked the fun out of the game for me because I’m a competitor. I like to compete. That’s what football’s about. It’s so refreshing to be in a place where that’s appreciated.” David Montgomery is firm with his decision and feels he can offer a lot to the Lions, who miraculously turned their season last year under the guidance of HC Dan Campbell, unlike the fate of the Chicago Bears.
David Montgomery believes the Lions can be competitive next season
The Lions went 8-2 in their last 10 games during the regular season. They suddenly turned into fierce competitors under Dan Campbell and QB Jared Goff at the helm of things.
David Montgomery feels he can offer lots of values and attributes to the Lions and help them win the division that has been significantly weakened after the departure of Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers. Montgomery feels he will be appreciated in Detroit and that will improve his game and take it to a complete new level. The 25-year old RB is still young and has shown promise while being with the Chicago Bears.
However, Montgomery throwing shade at the Bears can have serious repercussions and can also alleviate their NFL rivalry. There will be fireworks when both the teams will face-off next season. On the other hand, the Bears are also looking to improve considerably, with QB Justin Fields getting better and better each year.
