The upcoming 2024 NFL draft is going to be the perfect chance for the Chicago Bears to surround the franchise with a leading quarterback prospect such as Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, or the winner of the 2022 Heisman award, Caleb Williams. However, DJ Moore doesn’t want Justin Fields‘ position to change, as he suggests his name for the franchise QB.
After Sunday’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the Bears wide receiver lent out his full support to the 2021 first-round pick, in regards to the future of the franchise. After a 0-4 start, then 3-8, this season, Fields led his team to win four of their last five games, improving the season standing to a 7-9.
In the game against the Falcons, Fields dominated the field as he completed 20 out of his 32 passes for 268 yards along with a touchdown and running for 45 yards. These numbers seem to give hope to the Bears, and receiver Moore wants to hold onto that. After the victory on Sunday, Moore said:
He’s ‘Him.’ I want him to be the quarterback. I said what I said; now it’s on the higher-ups. It’s up to them.DJ Moore on Justin Fields, via Ari Meirov
The Bears can either build their 2024 season roster around the current starter Fields, or they can move on and rather restart with young talents, especially with college football star Williams in the picture.
Given that, the Bears will also have the No. 10 overall pick, which gives manager Ryan Poles the perfect opportunity to draft another blue-chip prospect in the team. As of now, there’s no official news on what’s going to happen in April 2024, when the NFL draft will begin.
Where can Justin Fields trade land, if he gets released this year?
There is also speculation that the Bears may trade quarterback Justin Fields. And if that happens, the teams that might be interested in pursuing the quarterback are New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers.
As the Patriots have already decided to let go of Mac Jones and backup Bailey Zappe, who haven’t been able to live up to the legacy of Tom Brady, the franchise continues their struggle to find an efficient quarterback and bring back the Patriots’ dominating era. If the team successfully traded Fields, there can be some consistency in their future.
On the other hand, the Steelers have been struggling ever since the legend, Ben Roethlisberger retired. As their draft pick, Kenny Pickett hasn’t been the best choice for them. Vikings, Kirk Cousins is soon to be released as a free agent in the offseason, therefore, the addition of a player like Fields could be a good addition for them.
