The Philadelphia Eagles have performed exceptionally this season, almost exceeding the expectations of most fans. And at the heart of all their good work was quarterback Jalen Hurts, who himself has proved doubters wrong through his performances.

The 24-year-old finally seems to be reaching his true potential and is one of the primary contenders to win the NFL MVP award this season. Hurts led the Eagles to a record 8-0 start to the season, and ultimately ended up winning the NFC East division with a 14-3 record.

However, he is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Eagles. And according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are looking to tie him down to the franchise for a long time now. Rapoport predicted a big contract to be handed out to Jalen Hurts in what would be just a reward for his performance on the gridiron this season.

“Jalen Hurts set to make $4 million next year, the final year of his rookie contract. Unlike Joe Burrow, no fifth-year option because he’s not a first-rounder, but he is eligible for an extension after the season,” Ian Rapoport said.

My understanding is that the Philadelphia Eagles and his agent get together this offseason and work out what would no doubt be a big-time, monster extension for Jalen Hurts.”

“Just think about how far he has come. This time last year, we were wondering, ‘Is he for sure the guy for the Eagles?’ Now, an MVP candidate and led his team all the way to today. No doubt, he is a massive part of the Eagles’ future.”

Hurts’ current season cumulated to a total of 3701 passing yards alongside a whopping 22 touchdowns. To add to that, he minimized his interceptions only to 6 and improved his running stats with 760 rushing yards.

Given the current situation of the quarterback market in the NFL, Hurts will hope for a huge upgrade, with all of his compatriots making a fortune in newly signed deals.
