“It’s very unfortunate” Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ‘prays for a change’ amidst another shooting at a high school football scrimmage

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is saddened by another high school shooting and chose to speak about it.

Jalen Hurts is known to speak on issues relating to gun violence and mass shootings in America. The Eagles QB addressed the issue again after another shooting at a local high school football scrimmage that led to the death of a 14-year-old and three others were injured.

“It’s very sad,” an emotional Hurts said. “Kids are doing what they love in a place where it’s supposed to be safe, where we say, ‘Go chase your dreams.’ They’re out there playing football, and they don’t make it home. It’s just very unfortunate. I’m praying for the families. I pray for change.”

The gun violence in high school is ever increasing and this an be brought down to the mental health issues that the young children suffer during their high school ordeal.

Many children look to sports as an outlet for anger, depression and frustration. It’s really saddening when a place that offers mental peace to the children becomes a place of violence and killing.

NFL athletes don’t usually talk about gun violence and other socio-political issues but Jalen Hurts never shy’s away from talking about controversial topics.

Jalen Hurts had also called out for a change in the outlook on gun violence. “Everybody is impacted by it one way or another,” Hurts said, with the team’s official website. “Everyone sitting here may have kids, someone they love.”

“We have opportunities to spread hope, love, encouragement, and uplift those around us,” Hurts said. “I take that to heart. Being able to spend time with a kid means the world to me. Some kids get to a point where they lose hope. There’s so much negativity out there they feel like that’s the easy route to go but it doesn’t have to be like that. It doesn’t have to be like that.”

Change is personal and it always starts with you making an effort to change yourself, when you succeed in changing yourself, you can attempt to change the world, to make it more positive without the gun violence and children getting killed for no reason at all.

There's a saying that if you love what you do, then you'll never work a single day in your life. I am grateful to be a writer and even more grateful to write and share about sports. According to me, sports is more than just watching and having a fun time, it inspires me, and teaches me different ways of life and I would like to share those teachings on this platform.
