The Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon recently took a pay cut as a “sacrifice” to give his team a better shot at winning the Super Bowl ring. However, the talented RB now has troubles to worry about other than winning NFL games since he’s facing a civil lawsuit from his former neighbor over the shooting incident that happened a few months ago.
According to multiple reports, a civil suit was filed in Hamilton County this week against Mixon and Lamonte Brewer by the Bengals running back’s former neighbor who is seeking damages from both of the defendants. This is over a shooting incident that happened back in March near Mixon’s home in Cincinnati.
One of the defendants, Brewer, allegedly shot Mixon’s teenage neighbor while he was standing in the running back’s backyard. The boy was reportedly playing the Nerf Wars game with toy guns, but Brewer mistook it for an actual gun, which led to him firing his gun.
Mixon was not criminally charged nor was he a suspect, but the lawsuit claims that he supplied the bullets and firearm used in the shooting. According to court documents, Mixon has had plenty of chances to settle the claims, but he has taken no responsibility for his actions, which led to the civil suit. Furthermore, the suit also alleges that the neighbors had to sell their home for $2.175 million since they “did not feel safe” living next to Mixon.
Brewer was charged on multiple counts, including felonious assault and tampering with evidence. Additionally, Shalonda Mixon, Joe’s sister, was also charged with tampering with evidence.

Joe Mixon is also facing legal trouble for threatening to shoot a woman

Apart from this incident, Mixon is also facing legal trouble for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to shoot her earlier in January this year in a road rage incident. The incident happened one day before the Cincinnati-based football team faced the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round game of the 2022 NFL postseason back in January.
While the case was initially dismissed due to lack of evidence, the Bengals RB was later charged with aggravated misdemeanor. He has pleaded not guilty to the incident and is set to face a jury trial in a few days on August 14, according to court documents.
The 27-year-old running back hasn’t spoken about the incidents yet. The former Pro Bowl halfback also reportedly declined to speak with the reporters during off-season workouts in spring.
