The Cleveland Browns cannot seem to catch a break. The team just got out of a rough fiasco with their quarterback Deshaun Watson who was recently suspended for 6 games by the NFL for violating the personal conduct policy and they traded their former first pick, Baker Mayfield, to the Carolina Panthers after months of going at it with the quarterback.

Now, the team faces yet another hurdle as one of their top running backs, Kareem Hunt who is pursuing a contract extension has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns but the team has straight up declined his request as per ESPN. Hunt is in the final year of his two-year $12 million contract and he had missed the last two practices but showed up on Sunday.

Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski did not have anything to state when asked about the RB’s trade request. “I’m not going to get into really anything that has to do with our players and conversations,” he stated. The coach also decided to stay mum on the topic of if the RB would be fined if he decided to sit out team drills.

Kareem Hunt is in his prime and he has performed extremely well for the Browns in his three seasons with the team, last season, he was out for 9 games due to his calf and ankle injuries. He ended the season with 386 rush yards and 5 TDs. The Browns have an extremely competitive edge in the RB department as Nick Chubb and D’Ernest Johnson are pretty talented backs as well. The duo has been Cleveland’s go-to backs and this could have led to Hunt feeling he can do much better on other teams.

Kareem Hunt had a stellar rookie year, drafted by the Chiefs in 2017, he ran for 1,327 yards but he was released after a video of him shoving and kicking a woman began to make rounds in the media. He became a Brown in 2019 and he faced an 8-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Despite these issues, Hunt’s talent is something nobody can deny. The RB is back and seems to be getting in his groove once again. His primary issue stems from the fact that he is considered to be a backup despite having the potential to land up as a starter on any other team in the league.
