The Las Vegas Raiders are leaving no stone unturned in their preparation for the upcoming NFL Draft. Reports have emerged that the Raiders will be hosting a pre-draft visit for Florida Gators quarterback, Anthony Richardson, on Friday.

This visit comes just days after news broke that the team was also hosting Kentucky Wildcats quarterback, Will Levis. The Raiders’ keen interest in both of these quarterbacks is a clear indication that they are in the market for a young signal-caller to potentially build their franchise around.

Despite holding the seventh overall pick in the NFL draft, it is widely believed that the top four picks will consist of three quarterbacks and one non-QB. This essentially means that the Raiders may have to trade up to secure either Richardson or Levis, who are considered to be the third and fourth-best quarterbacks in the draft, respectively.

If the Raiders are truly high on one of these prospects, they may have to move up to the third overall pick to ensure that they get their guy. Failure to do so could result in another team swooping in and snatching their desired quarterback.

Anthony Richardson had a standout season for the Florida Gators in 2020, throwing for 2,549 yards and recording 26 total touchdowns (nine rushing). He is considered a raw prospect with immense potential, making him the ideal type of player for the Raiders to bring in for a pre-draft visit.

The Raiders have already signed a veteran quarterback in the form of Jimmy Garoppolo during the offseason, but their interest in these young quarterbacks suggests that they are keeping their options open and are willing to bet on the potential of a rookie signal-caller.

The Raiders appear to be doing their due diligence and exploring all possible options to improve their team through the draft. Although they might face stuff competition from other franchises, as Richardson is also rumored to be visiting 5 other franchises including the Carolina Panthers, according to a report from reputed NFL analyst Dov Kleiman.

If the Raiders do decide to trade up, it would certainly make for an intriguing turn of events. However, the trade move would also come as a surprise to many NFL pundits.
