One of the biggest fears in the Las Vegas Raiders camps, after the signing of Jimmy Garoppolo, might just come out to be true. The veteran quarterback has had a torrid time with injuries in the past few seasons, and it seems that the trend is all set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Garoppolo had suffered a foot injury during the previous season during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, causing him to miss the final four games of the regular season alongside the playoffs. The initial diagnosis claimed that the fracture in his foot wasn’t severe enough to require surgery.

However, recent reports claim that the 31-year-old has undergone surgery on his foot after making his move to the Raiders official in March. This is one of the primary reasons as to why Jimmy G has not yet appeared for the voluntary organized training activities with the Raiders.

The foot injury has also put the Las Vegas Raiders on red alert, with the franchise deciding to add in a waiver in the playmaker’s contract – referred to as “Addendum G”, with the waiver specifically curated keeping in mind the quarterback’s foot injury. The clause was added to his contract, due to the fact that he failed his physical with the franchise in March.

The waiver was added to his contract because of a “preexisting medal and middle cuneiform and a fracture of the base of the second metatarsal in the Player’s left foot,” as stated in the clause.

As reported by NFL.com, a portion of the clause also states that the “Player also understands that such condition has decreased his ability to play professional football and that continuing to play professional football may result in deterioration, aggravation, or re-injury of the existing conditions rendering Player physically unable to perform the services that would be required of Player by an NFL Player Contract.”

The waiver specifically means that the Raiders can terminate his contract if they deem that the injury is a hindrance. The addendum also states that Garoppolo takes full responsibility for the fact that he could not have passed the physical test due to his foot injury.

For Garoppolo, things are simple enough. The addendum becomes null and void if he is able to pass a physical test, be a part of a minimum of one regular season game, and not suffer an injury again on the left foot.
