Justin Fields was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. The Ohio State QB had a great collegiate career and even made it to the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Fields took a slow start after being drafted as the NFL is a completely different ball game when compared to college football. However, the QB found his feat and gave exceptional performances in the 2022 season. Fields is known for his swift rushing techniques while also having great passing control over the ball.

The Bears have shown complete faith in Fields’ abilities. They have also decided to build their team around the 24-year-old. Bears HC Matt Eberflus recently gave an interview to NFL Network where he spoke about Fields in high regard and couldn’t stop praising the QB.

Eberflus confessed that he spent the first year building a great relationship with the Bears QB. He believes it’s highly important for the smooth functioning of the team. The HC also stated that Field was committed and determined to be the best since arriving in Chicago and that could be seen in his work-ethic.

“I was with him the whole year,” Eberflus said. “I was in all the quarterback meetings. And I really spent the first year building that relationship with him as a head coach and quarterback. He just showed me grit and, toughness, work ethic, his teammates love him. All the things that come with that position, he exuded those traits for sure.”

Justin Fields’ second season in the NFL was way better than his first season. The 24-year-old QB looked way more confident in his second season and took a great leap in performance during his second year.

Fields threw for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. However, the best feat that he achieved was putting together the second-best rushing record in the league’s history.

Although the Bears QB is really good right now, there are still some weaknesses to his game. Most importantly, his pocket presence, the QB was sacked a lot last season and HC Matt Eberflus believes he needs to work on that.

“I think it’s like any position on our team,” Eberflus stated. “We all need to grow because we have a young football team. And he’s no different. He just needs to keep working his game. He’s working hard this offseason on his own. Looking at the tape from last year, looking at other quarterbacks, studying other quarterbacks in different situations. Third down, two-minute and all those various situations you get into. And he’s doing a great job at that.”

The Bears will look to improve on their regular season record from last season. They will have hopes for a playoff run and Justin Fields will be vital for that.
