The Carolina Panthers recently decided to fire their head coach, Frank Reich after a poor 1-10 start to the season. Although the team selected Bryce Young with their first overall pick this season, they still failed to win games and were clearly the worst team in the league. A change was inevitable and owner David Tepper decided to pull the plug on Reich after just 11 games at the helm.
Reich was hired by the Panthers during this year’s offseason. Before arriving in Carolina, he was the Indianapolis Colts‘ head coach for 5 years. He was fired from Indianapolis after a poor start to the 2022 season. Tepper gave Reich an opportunity but the head coach failed to grab it. There are questions over Young’s future as well after the firing of Reich, but Tepper stood by his QB and said that the Panthers have full faith in the rookie.

Tepper held a press conference recently and answered questions regarding Young’s future and Reich’s firing. While addressing the situation surrounding Young, Tepper said:
We are totally confident in that pick.
It is clear that the organization has faith in their first overall pick, but Young has struggled to put a good season together. So far this season, he has led the Panthers to only one win. Tepper and the Panthers will hope that a new coach will help Young play better in the future.
The Panthers lost their latest game against the Tennessee Titans, 17-10. Young completed 18 of his 31 pass attempts for 194 yards and had zero touchdown passes. So far this season, Young has thrown for 1,877 yards and 9 touchdowns along with 8 interceptions.
David Tepper revealed that the Panthers were interested in C.J. Stroud before pick Bryce Young
The Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young with their first overall pick in this year’s draft. However, their owner David Tepper recently revealed that they were interested in C.J. Stroud as they thought that the Houston Texans would pick Bryce Young second overall. That didn’t happen as the Texans got C.J. Stroud with their second-overall pick. Stroud has been fantastic this season whereas Young has struggled in Carolina.

Tepper admitted that the Panthers “thought we’d get C.J.” He also said “we thought the Texans were gonna pick Bryce,” but Tepper confirmed that the organization preferred Young. Tepper concluded:
And as far as Bryce Young is concerned: We are totally confident in that pick. ... For me, I'm totally confident in agreeing with that pick.
The Panthers and the Texans met in week 8 this season, where the Panthers got their only win of the season so far. Young outplayed Stroud during the game as he finished with 235 yards and a touchdown. However, over the course of the season, Stroud has been better than Young and is a favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
