The Kansas City Chiefs are 8-4 this season. The reigning Super Bowl champions are one game behind the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC and are staring at the prospect of playing in the Wild Card Round for the first time in the last five years. The Chiefs’ superstar QB Patrick Mahomes has had a good season but he hasn’t received consistent support from his receivers this season.

Mahomes’ receivers have consistently dropped crucial passes throughout the season. Former Green Bay Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a potential game-winner in the Chiefs’ week 11 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. They rank eighth in total yards and eleventh in points scored. Beyond Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, Mahomes’ weapons have been inconsistent. However, the two-time MVP is still backing his receivers.

Mahomes said during a press conference on Wednesday:

You just come into work and try to get better, that’s all you can do. I think the guys have done a great job of trying to do that. We’re going to continue to get better. It’s the little things in this league that are the difference between winning and losing, so we’ll continue to focus on those and try to get better going into this week. I have a lot of trust in those guys. I see how hard they are working.

Mahomes so far this season has racked up 3,127 passing yards and 22 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He has completed 67.8 percent of his passes. His top target, Travis Kelce, has 813 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. He is on pace to go past the 1,000-yard mark for the eighth consecutive season.

Patrick Mahomes opens up about the Chiefs’ bounce-back mindset after losses

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a devastating loss against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in their week 13 matchup. It was the Chiefs’ fourth loss of the season and they are now one game behind the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens. Their QB Patrick Mahomes spoke about the team’s mindset following their losses.

Mahomes said:

Yeah, I think I learned from Coach (Andy) Reid. I mean, you always see him; he’s never too high, never too low," He’s focused on the task at hand. How can we get into the best position to play the best football we can on that day? So that’s how my mindset is: no matter if we win, and everybody loves us, or if we lose, and everybody’s kind of down on us, you just got to focus on how can I get myself better and prepare for that next game.

The Chiefs will welcome the Buffalo Bills at the Arrowhead Stadium in their week 14 game on Sunday. It will be another tough matchup for Kansas City and Mahomes will hope to lead his team to victory on Sunday.
