Mahomes further said that he gave a little inside information to the Chiefs. He had a feeling that a couple of teams were eyeing him with their pick early in the draft and hence he conveyed this to the Chiefs and urged them not to let him drop below the number 12 pick in the draft.

“I kind of gave a little inside info to the Chiefs and was like, hey, if ya’ll let me go anywhere below, at the time I didn’t know about the Saints, y’all let me go 12 or below, I’m gonna get drafted by someone else. So I gave the Chiefs a little bit of info on that cause I wanted to be here,” he said.

After all this, the Chiefs picked Patrick Mahomes in the first round and was the 10th overall pick. In the current season, with a 9-2 record, the Chiefs are the best team in the AFC and are mega-contenders for the Super Bowl.
